Just last week we broke the news about GM buying back some of its pickup trucks. This week, it is all about a Ford recall. Per Ford, they are recalling nearly 23,000 2020 model year Super Duty pickup trucks with the 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel engine because of a risk of a roll away when parked.
According to the Ford recall, there is a washer inside the 10-speed automatic transmission that can disintegrate. The debris from this can get lodged into the park mechanism, preventing the transmission from fully entering the Park mode even though the shifter is in Park. This has been a common issue as they recently issued a Ford recall for nearly a quarter of a million Ford Explorer SUVs for the same thing.
If your Ford Super Duty was built at the Kentucky truck plant between October 1, 2019, and September 21, 2020, or at the Ford Ohio plant between October 30, 2019, and July 23, 2020, you need to get this fixed. At your local dealer, they will fix the problem by replacing a gearset in the transmission. That doesn’t sound like fun.
