As Fall hits across the country, it means all types of motorsport seasons are coming to an end. Of course, in off-road racing, it also means the running of the Dirt Riot National Rampage (DRNR), in which a handful of King of the Hammers Ultra4 positions are secured for the following year. This year, the event was bigger than ever with about 70 teams competing for their chance at a guaranteed spot in the exclusive Hammers race as well as bragging rights on the short course circuit. Check out some of the highlights from this year’s Dirt Riot National Rampage in the video above from SeeYouOnTheTrail.net.

Held in Bridgeport, Texas, the Dirt Riot National Rampage is the final race of a 12-event series that sprawls across the country all summer long. Just like last year, the event took place at the Northwest OHV Park for 2013, giving participants of the mid-October weekend event plenty of tough terrain to take on. In fact, of all the events Dirt Riot puts on, the National Rampage competition brings the most varied terrain obstacles, with wooded areas and wide gravel roads in addition to the traditional hard rock descents, true 4WD trails and wide-open expanses.
In addition to races in Professional 4400, 4500 and 4600 classes, the National Rampage also featured a drivers meet and greet, UTV and Sportsman class races, and a raffle with items up for grabs like a signed jersey from winning Honda rider at Baja, Johnny Campbell, Dirt Riot banner and LED light sets from Olympus Offroad.
When all was said and done, six Dirt Riot National Rampage competitors qualified for the 2014 King of the Hammers event, one of which finished in the top ten. With eight of the top 10 finishers already qualified for KOH, the 2014 season-opener will welcome sixth place DRNR finisher Roger Lovell, 13th place DRNR finisher Jeremy Dickensen, 14th place DRNR finisher Billy Briney, 15th place DRNR finisher Chad Burchik, 16th place DRNR finisher Chris Sommer, and 17th place DRNR finisher Jeff McCullough to the starting lineup. Of course, we can’t forget to mention the top Ultra4 finishers: First- Bill Baird, Second-Derek West, Third- Levi Shirley, Fourth-Chris Hoyt, and Fifth- Clay Gilstrap.
