While 2013 is winding down, the 2014 off-road racing season is already shaping up. Certainly, many of the same events that took place this year will be returning next year, but more events will be added to the list, as will a new Ultra4 class! That’s right, Ultra4 is introducing their Spec 4700 Class for 2014 and partnering with them to make the debut that much greater, according to a recent press release, is Falken Tire.
The new Ultra4 Spec Series will feature Jeep Wrangler-bodied, tube-chassis vehicles equipped with factory-supported HEMI engines. In offering the new class, Ultra4 will promote a true driver’s segment of the popular Ultra4 race series.
“This is the type of race where true driver’s skill and proper car set-up will be the keys to success,” Nestor Cabrera, Falken Tire’s Off-road Supervisor, stated in the recent press release. “It won’t be who spends the most money, but who is the best prepared and most adept at managing the course, since all drivers will be in identical vehicles. Falken is very excited to be a founding participant in this exciting new off-road class.”
What’s even better is that even those without 4700 Class vehicles of their own will be able to participate in the new class, as Ultra4 will rent out six of the company-owned and Falken-tire-equipped 4700 Class vehicles to enthusiasts under an “arrive and drive” program come next year. Chassis’ for the class will also be available for purchase.
The new Spec 4700 vehicles will compete in every west coast Ultra4 race for the 2014 season, including a special Thursday race at the annual King of the Hammers event, sporting new 37-inch Falken prototype tires. In partnering with Ultra4, Falken will not only be helping to promote the new Ultra4 class and events put on by Hammerking Productions, but also their own offerings to the off-road industry. We can’t wait to see the results!
