For some Las Vegas, Nevada is a location to let loose, for the off-road community it is known for a different reason. The 2017 Polaris RZR Mint 400 returns to the desert outside the strip March 1st-5th.
The festivities kick off on Wednesday, March 1st with the parade of race vehicles down Las Vegas Boulevard. This is a chance to let people on the strip know who is in town and a site that brings people out of the casinos to see these vehicles for possibly the first time.
Action continues on Thursday, March 2nd with time trials. Can Justin Lofton bring home this year’s win for the third straight year or can local BJ Baldwin finally get back on top the podium? Starting position for the race will be determined on Thursday.
Thursday night the activities continue on Freemont street with the Rugged Radios meet and greet, Method Race Wheels pit crew challenge which includes both Trophy Truck and class 6100 (Trophy Spec) teams. Method Race Wheels is putting up $5,000 in cash and a stunning custom-made trophy to the fastest overall qualifier, as well as a hand painted custom jack to the winners of the pit crew challenge.

What is better than being at the bar in Vegas? Having over 350 race vehicles strolling down Freemont Street.
On the eve of race day, the competitors will be going down Freemont Street for tech and contingency. Off-road enthusiasts are encouraged to come see the spectacle of over 350 off-road race vehicles parading among hundreds of off-road aftermarket brands and manufacturers. This historic annual gathering dates back to 1970’s when The Mint 400 was actually started on Fremont St. in front of The Mint Hotel.
Racing is split up into two races on Saturday, March 4th. Action will take place throughout the Nevada desert, starting and finishing in Primm, Nevada. Be sure to stay tuned as Off Road Xtreme will bring you all the racing highlights.
For more information on the race and schedule be sure to check out the Mint 400 website.
