The off-road scene is full of unique builds, made for everything from cruising up hills at high rates of speed to competing in extensive cross-country races. But one truck that recently came to our attention thanks to Viral Nova and reddit.com is probably one of the coolest we’ve seen in a long time. Not only is it an extreme off-road camper, it’s also a recycled German firetruck. Sound interesting? Check it out in the video above, compliments of OutBound Motorhome Products.

The truck was built, or converted rather, by OutBound Motorhome Products of the Netherlands before it became an official company. In fact, this truck is the reason OutBound Motorhome Products started.
With a passion for off-roading, owner of OutBound, Jan van Haandel purchased an old fire rescue truck and decided to convert it to an extreme off-road camper that he and his wife could take out in the Netherlands back country and enjoy while being completely self-sufficient.
The first thing that was done to the fire truck was that the back box was removed and a special bend-proof, self-leveling floor with built-in heating coils was installed. The cabin was then stripped down and painted.
The truck also features windows and storage hatches, skylights, a protective cage and roof racks, a special cooling system just for the living quarters and even a custom lift so you can take your off-road bikes or other equipment along with you.
While this truck is completely cool in its finished state, it is the fact that it was originally an old fire truck converted to an extreme RV that makes it so special.
In doing the conversion, the Haandels learned a lot about creating off-road campers, and this caused them to start OutBound Motorhome Products alongside the existing Outbound freight vehicle business. Through OutBound Motorhome Products, you can now purchase off-road proven doors, windows, pop-up skylights, sliding screens and shutters for your off-road camper conversions. Or you can purchase this specific vehicle, currently for sale on Mobile.de for a negotiable 118,000 Euros ($160,650).
