While attending southern rock racer Richie Keith’s Christmas party, MadRam11 captured the unveiling of his latest toy. Keith recently made the transition to Mega Mud racing and he showed off his new truck. It’s a Chevy Silverado-bodied beast nicknamed PlowBoy Mud.
Powering the truck is a blown and injected, alcohol-fed big block Chevy (displacement is classified per Keith) that produces an earth-shaking 1,600 horses. The engine is tied to a Powerglide automatic transmission that connects to an Overtime transfer case. The suspension setup uses Overtime shocks and a pair of RCV axles with a custom Overtime hub assembly.
As a farmer, Keith is a big fan of John Deere products, and these are an inspiration for PlowBoy. The Mega Mud truck has been painted in the signature green and yellow with John Deere logos on the wheels, and Deere-patterned metal case surrounding the big block motor. In Keith’s own words, “We farm with JD equipment, so we wanted our rig to follow.“
PlowBoy Mud is one mean looking truck with its high stance, aggressive body and exhaust firing from the pair of Zoomie headers. The truck weighs less than 6,000 pounds, and has rear steering to help navigate though the muddy terrain. After seeing this beast we have a feeling that Keith’s transition into the Mega Mud circuit is going to be smooth.
