Do you have a 2024 or 2025 Toyota Tacoma? Do you want to quickly and easily improve its suspension performance? Well, good news: Bilstein offers a way to do just that with its renowned B8 5100 and B8 5100 Ride Height Adjustable shocks.
Bilstein’s B8 5100 Is The Company’s Top Selling Product Line
There are products within the off-road aftermarket that have earned a positive, almost legendary reputation, and Bilstein’s B8 5100 shocks fall into that category. These shocks were the first direct-fit monotube units to hit the market for lifted 4x4s. You may recall that when they debuted well over a decade ago, each was painted yellow. However, Bilstein says that after listening to customer feedback, it switched them to a zinc finish. Over the years, the company has rolled out applications for a wide variety of 4x4s. Fun fact: Bilstein says these shocks are currently its top-selling product line.
About The B8 5100
Features of the B8 5100 for the Tacoma include a 46mm monotube design, which provides consistent, fade-free performance. You’ll notice the improvement on terrain such as rough fire roads or undulating sand roads that stretch as far as the eye can see. Patented digressive valving reacts instantly to varying surface conditions, and the vulcanized neoprene rubber bushings deliver long-life durability. It’s also important to note that OEM-certified mounting hardware is included, which helps make installation easy. On the topic of installation, these are direct-fit shocks with application-specific tuning. The tuning accounts for many use factors, including loaded and unloaded vehicle weight, towing, tire pressure, and more.
According to Bilstein’s application guide, the B8 5100s are available for SR5 and TRD Off-Road trims with the i-FORCE (not MAX) engine. Finally, the shocks are manufactured in either the USA or Germany.
It’s worth noting that Bilstein also offers its B6 4600 shocks for stock-height Tacomas.
Increased Suspension Travel And More
For the 2024 and 2025 Toyota Tacoma, the front B8 5100 Ride Height Adjustable shocks reuse the truck’s stock front coil springs and OEM hardware. Bilstein points out that these shocks provide an affordable, practical alternative to coil spring spacers. Additionally, the company notes that they deliver increased suspension travel along with the performance benefits of monotube technology.
The shock body features multiple snap-ring grooves that allow for different spring seat positions. For the fourth-generation Tacoma, the Ride Height Adjustable shocks offer a lift range of 1 to 2.5 inches. Each has an extended length of 24.13 inches and a collapsed length of 19.24 inches.
The smooth-body B8 5100 rear shocks fit Tacomas with 0 to 1.5 inches of lift. Each has an extended length of 25.44 inches and a collapsed length of 15.78 inches.
