Jeep Promises Free Wranglers To George Washington If America Wins The World Cup, And Somehow This Is Real

There are marketing campaigns, there are patriotic marketing campaigns, and then there’s whatever glorious fever dream just rolled out of Auburn Hills, Michigan.

With the world’s biggest soccer tournament arriving on American soil this summer, Jeep has decided that simply cheering for Team USA wasn’t nearly ambitious enough. Instead, the brand has announced that if the United States wins the whole thing, it will give away up to 100 new 2026 Jeep Wranglers to Americans legally named George Washington.

Not George Washington impersonators.

Not George Washington reenactors.

Not George Washingtons on social media.

Actual, living Americans whose birth certificates say “George Washington.”

And honestly? We respect the commitment to the bit.

The campaign, appropriately titled “All in on America,” is Jeep’s latest attempt to blend patriotism, pop culture, and just a hint of chaos into one giant red-white-and-blue package. As Jeep puts it, the brand is going “All in on America” as soccer continues gaining a foothold in the United States.

The premise is simple enough. Any U.S. resident legally named George Washington can register at wranglerforwashingtons.com between now and the tournament final. The first 100 verified registrants become eligible. If Team USA somehow conquers the soccer world and lifts the trophy, each selected George Washington gets a brand-new Jeep Wrangler.

Yes. That George Washington.

It’s the kind of promotion that sounds like it emerged from a brainstorming session fueled entirely by fireworks, bald eagle documentaries, and an unlimited supply of apple pie.

Still, Jeep executives are fully embracing the absurdity.

“As the world turns its eyes to soccer this summer and America competes on the global stage, we’re celebrating it the Jeep way, patriotically, playfully and with a nod to the name that shaped a nation,” said Olivier François, global chief marketing officer, Stellantis. “As America’s most patriotic brand, tying America’s victory to the country’s founding father and original trailblazer gives 100 of our fans another unexpected reason to cheer.”

What Would George Washington Do?

To be fair, if you’re going to tie a soccer promotion to a historical figure, Washington isn’t the worst choice. The man crossed an icy Delaware River during a military campaign. Surely he could handle a Wrangler Rubicon trail ride.

Of course, there is one small complication.

The United States has never won the men’s World Cup.

In fact, America’s best finish came all the way back in 1930, when the tournament itself was still figuring things out. Back then there were only 13 teams, players traveled by boat, and nobody had yet invented the phrase “soccer fever.”

The odds of Team USA winning it all remain, let’s say, optimistic.

Then again, stranger things have happened in World Cup history. North Korea once made a quarterfinal run. Greece won the European Championship. Saudi Arabia beat eventual champion Argentina in 2022. Soccer specializes in turning impossible scenarios into documentaries.

Which means somewhere out there, a handful of George Washingtons are suddenly paying much closer attention to the standings.

The campaign also stars comedian Iliza Shlesinger, who temporarily trades her title as Jeep’s “Chief Family Officer” for “Chief Soccer Officer.” In the 60-second commercial, Shlesinger sits beneath a portrait of George Washington riding in a Jeep Wrangler—which is exactly the sort of detail that tells you everyone involved understood the assignment.

“If America wins it all and a bunch of George Washingtons end up driving around in brand-new Jeep Wranglers, that’s the kind of chaotic patriotism I want to be part of,” said Shlesinger. “The Jeep brand has always represented freedom, adventure and a little bit of rebellion, so giving George Washingtons across America the chance to get a Jeep Wrangler felt perfectly unhinged in the best possible way.”

Perfectly unhinged may be the most accurate description of the entire campaign.

Jeep brand offers 100 Americans named George Washington a chance to receive a Jeep Wrangler.

A New Fan Club For Team USA

As for how many George Washingtons are actually out there, Jeep hasn’t said. The company may soon discover whether America’s first president left behind a stronger legacy in democracy or baby-name inspiration.

History suggests the answer may not be encouraging. Despite being the Father of His Country, George Washington has never enjoyed the same naming popularity as James, William, Michael, or even fellow presidents like Jackson and Lincoln. But somewhere across America, a select group of George Washingtons just became the most important fan base in U.S. soccer.

Imagine explaining that sentence to the real George Washington.

The man spent years leading a revolution against the British Empire. Nearly 250 years later, his namesakes are rooting for Christian Pulisic and company because there might be a free Jeep at the end of it.

Honestly, that feels like the most American story imaginable.

The “All in on America” campaign was created in partnership with Chicago-based advertising agency Highdive and will run across television and Jeep’s social channels, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, X, and TikTok.

Whether Team USA actually wins the tournament remains to be seen.

But for now, somewhere in America, a George Washington is checking soccer schedules for the first time in his life and wondering what color Wrangler he’d pick.
