Off-road racer Carl Renezeder has made an indelible mark on the off-road racing scene. Numerous wins dot the years he’s been involved in the sport, and range from the enduring torture test of the Baja 1000 to the tightly-packed frenzy of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS).
This year, the Renezeder team has been put through the ups and downs of competing in the Pro 2 and Pro 4 classes. The man himself is dealing with challenges each and every race, but he remains steadfast. Alongside him are top-tier sponsors like Jiffy-Tite lending support to his racing efforts.
Jiffy-Tite has been a part of Renezeder’s team since 2014, and has made a big difference in the pit sections thanks to its signature quick-connect/disconnect fittings. Such fittings can plumb oil, fuel, transmission fluid, and other liquids in the high-performance, short-course trucks, and do so reliably without fear of rupturing or other damage.
Not to mention, the speed with which the pit crew can hook and unhook these fittings definitely cuts down on repair time. “When you’re racing, time is very important,” said Renezeder. “Jiffy-tite makes changes easy and quick, and we don’t have to worry about leaks. Their fittings simplify our processes and provide us with added safety and leak-proof seals.”
We got the chance to speak with Renezeder this week and collect his thoughts on the current season of LOORRS. In doing so, we got insight into what he’s learned from the races, what it was like bombing through Baja, and how he’s going to take on the race in Reno later this month.
“We’re a little frustrated this season,” he said. “The trucks are fast and we’ve had lots of podium finishes, but we’re just not where we would like to be. The team is sure that we’ll figure it out. We still have some homework to do, and we will continue to improve both trucks. After so many years of doing this, it’s rare for everything to come together just right, but we’ll keep digging, fine-tuning, and adjusting things to make the trucks better.”
Renezeder is taking the good with the bad this year. Despite issues, he and his team were thrilled to be competing down in Baja California for Rounds 11 and 12. “I was really excited to get back to Baja,” Renezeder commented. “The last time I raced in Estero Beach was in 2002. There’s no way to put into words what it feels like to drive my trucks, but unfortunately, the weekend did not go as expected. It seemed like one little thing after another kept getting in the way. As always, I try to learn what we did wrong and move on to the next challenge.”
All that aside, the next race at the end of August will definitely see Renezeder and his team revived and ready for battle. “I’m always excited to strap the helmet on at each race,” he said. “It’s what drives me. It’s what motivates me. I’m sure Reno will be exhilarating, exhausting, fulfilling, frustrating, thrilling and maddening–everything we’ve come to expect in short-course off-road racing!”
We wish Renezeder and his crew the best of luck at the Wild West Motorsports Park there in Reno, set to take place August 22-23. Keep track of Renezeder’s progress by checking out Team Renezeder website, and see all that Jiffy-Tite has to offer by visiting its website and Facebook page.
