Video: Good Times At BamaSlam

Mud–love it or hate it, it’s God’s gift to off-roading. Our neighbors in the Southern states know all too well the fun you can have in mud. In the video above (filmed by Uncle Packy’s Adventures), dozens of riders take out quads and UTVs for some slop-slinging fun as part of a BamaSlam event in New Brockton, Alabama.

BamaSlam is a 46-acre recreation area in southeastern Alabama. According to its website, it not only holds an ATV park, but also a water park and live music venue. Their website boasts over 45 miles of off-road trails for visitors to explore. The mud pit you see in the video, called the “Mud Coliseum,” takes center stage. Spanning 11 acres, the Mud Coliseum claims to be the largest ATV mud race track in the country. Its “bounty hole” was where racers competed at this recent event for a whopping $15,000.

The UTV action starts around the 13:20 mark. Sporting tractor tires and giving it their all, these racers went crazy on the course. The UTVs were up to the challenge. They took on small jumps, plunged straight into big puddles, and rooster-tailed wet red clay through the corners. More than one racer took an unfortunate spill, but all’s well that ends well.

The track appears laid out as a simple circle track, four turns and some straightaways mixed with little jumps to spice things up. But simplicity is often the best approach when it comes to off-roading, and it’s still entertaining as all get-out to watch these guys run their machines in the muck!
