With tuners finally cracking the code on the 2024+ 5.0-liter V8 Ford F-150, the performance world has been waiting to see what the new platform is capable of with forced induction. Ken Bjonnes from Palm Beach Dyno just answered that question by strapping a new 2024 Whipple-supercharged Ford F-150 to the rollers for a full custom tuning session. The truck, equipped with a 3.75-inch supercharger pulley and Kooks long tubes, laid down an impressive baseline and then showed just how much power was waiting to be unlocked with a proper tune.

Unlocking Power On Pump Gas

The session started with a baseline pull on the standard Whipple tune, where the truck made 629 rear-wheel horsepower. He then began the process of custom tuning on 93 octane, focusing not just on peak power, but on the quality of the power curve. “I’m very, very anal about the shape of my curve, how smooth it is, because that’s going to tell you how happy the engine is,” Ken explained. After several revisions, his careful approach paid off, with the truck putting down a solid 693 rear-wheel horsepower on pump gas.

The Ethanol Advantage

The next step was to unlock the power of flex fuel. After adding a few gallons of E85 to the tank to create an E30 blend, Ken debunked a common myth about ethanol. He pushed back on the idea that you need full E85 for big gains, noting from his experience that E30 has huge benefits. The dyno immediately proved him right. The very first pull on E30 with no added timing jumped to 709 rear-wheel horsepower. After dialing in the tune to take advantage of the ethanol, the final numbers were a massive 740 rear-wheel horsepower and 539 lb-ft of torque from this Whipple supercharged F-150.

2024+ Whipple F-150 Results

The tuning session was a huge success, showing a peak gain of 111 horsepower from start to finish. Ken emphasized that this was pure tuning potential. “So huge huge gains with the tune only,” he said. “Don’t forget we changed no parts on this vehicle at all.” The results show that this new Whipple-supercharged F-150 setup is proving to be a monster, with a custom dyno tune unlocking a tremendous amount of safe, reliable horsepower.
