The old saying “you get what you pay for” was put to the ultimate test for off-roaders trying to choose a tire inflator. YouTuber VictorVlogsPDX staged a head-to-head battle, pitting the popular and portable Milwaukee M18 inflator against the powerful, premium MORRFlate TenSix Pro. The Milwaukee vs. MORRFlate comparison aimed to answer one simple question for anyone who spends time on the trail: Is the expensive option really worth the money?
The Two Contenders
The matchup represents a classic trade-off for overlanders. The Milwaukee M18 inflator, at $179 for the tool alone, is a convenient, battery-powered unit that many people already have in their garage. On the other side is the MORRFlate TenSix Pro, a larger and heavier unit that requires a direct connection to a vehicle’s battery but promises a massive 10.6 cfm of airflow. As Victor explained, for many, the choice comes down to one critical factor on the trail. He said, “You are going to mostly be paying for time.”
The Milwaukee vs. MORRFlate Test
With his Ford Bronco‘s 35-inch tires aired down to 18 psi, Victor began the test, aiming for a target pressure of 38 psi. The Milwaukee went first and immediately showed its weaknesses. Victor noted its known inaccuracy, stating, “I actually have to set the Milwaukee a couple PSI higher to actually get to where I want to be at.”
During the long inflation, the unit also kept shutting down. “I don’t know if it’s overheating, but it does this almost every time,” he said. The final time, after much fiddling and restarting, was a lengthy 21:10. In contrast, the MORRFlate performed flawlessly. It inflated all four tires in just 5:57 without shutting down. Its pressure gauge was also perfectly accurate.
Milwaukee vs. MORRFlate: Time Is Money
Victor entered the test with a clear mindset, saying, “This test wasn’t to test whether it was better. I knew it was going to be better, but I wanted to know how much better.” The results were definitive. He found that for a price difference of about $145, the MORRFlate was more than three times faster.
“You’re looking at less than double the cost and almost three times! More than three times faster inflation time, so I’d say the ROI on that is pretty darn good,” he concluded. For any serious off-roader, saving over 15 minutes every time you air up is a massive advantage on the trail.
