Ram trucks from between 2009-2018 are some of the most recognizable pickup trucks on the market today. They’re handsome, rugged, and capable, but you still may find yourself wanting an upgrade, both in appearance and function. That’s where the AlphaRex Pro-Series, Luxx-Series, and Nova-Series projector headlights come in. Upgrading your lighting is one of the best ways to freshen up your truck’s look, and they improve on the stock headlight units by a large margin.

AlphaRex has a series of videos available that give step-by-step directions on how to install and aim your new headlights. Let’s take a look at what’s involved.

Once you have everything ready to go, disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the four ribbed clips on the bottom of the radiator shroud, pop out the two push clips on the radiator shroud and remove it from the truck. Next, remove the four 10mm bolts that secure the grille. Pull on the front of the grill with both hands to remove it from the truck.

Remove the two 10mm bolts from the stock headlight assembly. Moving to the wheel wheel, locate the access panel on the inside and open it to expose the back of the headlight unit and push up on the white tab to release it. You should now be able to remove the headlight assembly. Disconnect the high/low beam connector from the headlight and pop out the turn signal light.

On your new AlphaRex unit, install the turn signals. If you’re using the optional LED running lights, connect the red wire from the harness to the back of the new headlight unit. Connect the positive and negative wires to your truck’s battery terminals. If you’re not using the LED kit, skip ahead to installing the lights in the new AlphaRex unit.

Connect the grey wire from the LED kit to Pin F66 in your truck’s fuse box. Now, install the high/low beam lights into the new assembly. You can now slide the new headlight assembly where the stock unit was. Be sure to replace the two 10mm bolts on the front of the new assembly.

You can now reverse the steps you went through earlier to finish reinstalling the headlight. Repeat the process on the other side. You’ll need to aim the new lights, which AlphaRex recommends doing against a large wall. Park 25 feet away and level the headlights using the adjustment bolts.
