Video: TireBuyer Showcase Of General Tire

If you’re in the market to buy new tires, but aren’t sure which tires and what type of tires are best for your pickup truck or SUV and your specific style of off-road adventure, this video is just what you’ve been looking for. The experts from TireBuyer gathered together three different vehicles (a Ram pickup, a Ford Raptor pickup, and a Jeep Wrangler JLU) and three different General Tire Grabber tires (the APT, AT/X, and the X3) to give viewers lessons about the lineup.

General Tire’s Grabber AT/X, seen here fitted to a Ford Raptor, is a perfect choice for any pickup or SUV that will see significant off-road use.

Follow along as three different General Tire Grabbers are evaluated for off-road and street performance environments on vehicles they are well suited for. Before we go much further though, let’s get to know the tires you’re about to see tested. It’s always best to begin any comparison or analysis with a look into the characteristics of each tire.

The three General Tire Grabber tires reviewed in the video are the Grabber APT all-purpose tire, the AT/X all-terrain tire, and the X3 mud-terrain tire. Watch the video to learn which is best for your truck or SUV.

General Grabber APT

General Tire refers to its Grabber APT as a “strong and durable all-purpose-terrain tire, providing competent all-terrain off-road capability, balanced with excellent on-road performance and designed for all-weather conditions.” It’s designed to fit most light trucks and SUVs. Its embossed three-peak-mountain snowflake refers to the APT’s improved snow traction. The General Grabber APT is a tire designed as a hybrid highway/all-terrain, and it makes a good choice for an SUV or light truck that sees a lot of pavement miles with some occasional interruptions of graded dirt, gravel, or heavy weather.

The General Tire Grabber APT would be a good tire for a full-size pickup truck that sees an occasional dirt road, but also hauls a trailer or boat on a regular basis.

General Grabber AT/X

The General Grabber AT/X is a step up from the Grabber APT and is directed right at the all-terrain light truck and SUV tire buyer bullseye. It is touted as “the next-generation, aggressive all-terrain tire that provides exceptional off-road capability and durability, balanced with impressive on-road performance.” Fitments are for most light trucks and SUVs, with sizes ranging up to a trail-ready 37×13.50R20LT. The Grabber AT/X’s serious all-terrain tackling tread design includes molded-in stud holes, which make it feasible as a snow tire. This is a tire for the vehicle that sees a fair amount of dirt, rocks, and bad weather.

With a fairly aggressive all-terrain tread pattern, and molded-in stud holes for extreme ice and snow traction, the General Grabber AT/X is a good choice for almost any off-road vehicle.

General Grabber X3

General Tire’s Grabber X3 is its most aggressive tire. Its knife-edge-sharp outer blocks, jagged rows of inner tread blocks, and the wide voids in between are all designed to make mincemeat out of the trail ahead. General calls it “a bold and aggressive mud-terrain that delivers extreme off-road performance in mud, dirt, and rocky terrain.” Meant for light trucks and SUVs, the Grabber X3 also tops out at 37×13.50R20LT, just like the AT/X. The X3’s mud-terrain tread design is ready to bite deeply into the messiest terrain you can find and toss it behind as it chews forward toward your destination.

The Grabber X3 mud-terrain tire from General Tire is the obvious choice for the hardcore off-road enthusiast.

Now that you have some facts and figures about each of the three General Grabber tires, the APT, AT/X, and X3, you’re better informed and have a good idea on where to start. Be sure to head over to TireBuyer to check out this trio of radical tires and find the right one for your rig.
