There is nothing like a drag race to prove a point. Guys have been doing that since the second car, or truck for that matter, rolled of the assembly line. A drag race is even better when it comes to proving that a performance product really does the trick. Dyno charts are great, but they are cold compared to the pavement-pounding allure of side-by-side competition on the blacktop! So that’s exactly what Magnuson Superchargers did in the video you see above.

The company took two 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup trucks equipped with 5.3L V8 engines out to an airstrip for a drag race to see just how well the new Magnuson Supercharger kit installed in one of the GM trucks would perform when put up against an identical truck that was bone stock.

The new Magnuson MP1900 TVS Supercharger Kit includes Eaton rotors, a large liquid-to-air intercooler, a front-mounted heat exchanger, electric water pump, and intercooler coolant reservoir.

One of the questions almost everybody asks, other than how much power it makes, is about fuel economy. The Magnuson kit offers an integrated bypass valve. This vacuum-operated system allows air to bypass the supercharger and the rotors to “free-spin” under light engine loads. That means when the driver is not heavy into the gas pedal, the supercharged truck maintains stock-like drivability and fuel economy–giving it power without compromise.

During this drag-race comparison, the two trucks are really put to the test–timed while towing a Jeep on a flat bed trailer. The entire load comes in at a total of 6,000 pounds.
