Excess is never a good thing especially in a UTV. The motors and exhaust on the UTV are close to plenty of components, driver and passenger in a UTV.
Design Engineering Inc. (DEI) has a solution for UTV owners looking to cool off the components around their exhaust especially during slow conditions. With all the power that UTV’s are starting to put out, the factory heat shields just do not cut it any more.
DEI uses their extreme heat barrier kit using the shield with fiberglass backing. The nice thing about DEI’s products is that they have something for everything. During the install DEI was able to find vulnerable hoses that receive extra heat and use their Fire Wrap 3000 Silicone Coated Sleeving to protect the hose from damage. The Fire Wrap is available in widths from 5/8-inch to 2-inches.
The use of their High Temp wrap on the exhaust will help keep the area around the motor nice and cool. It is available in tan, black, and titanium with 1-inch and 2-inch widths. The finished off the exhaust with the High Temp Silicone Coating to help seal the wrap, and prevents moisture penetration.
Along the top part of the exhaust DEI used Titanium Shields, that come in 4-inch and 6-inch widths and lengths up to three feet, to keep the bed area cool as well to prevent the heat from moving forward to the cabin and air filter area. On the access panel DEI lined the panel with their Boom Mat.
The Boom Mat is a sound and vibration absorption product. The mat rubber with aluminum to help deflect heat away from the cabin. DEI used their line lining on the fuel lines to help protect against heat which could cause vapor lock.
The last product they used to help reduce heat was their Radiator Relief. This product lowers the surface tension of the coolant while increasing the flow. You use one once per quart of coolant.
Make sure your ice cold cooler does not get warm with all of DEI’s heat control products. The products will help keep your UTV cool while you are out having fun.
