The BFGoodrich Outstanding Trails program highlights some of the best off-road trails in the country and is dedicated to the responsible use and preservation of these trails. In the video you’ll see above, the Truckhaven, California, locale is highlighted, along with The Tierra Del Sol Four Wheel Drive Club of San Diego in the story of the 2013 BFGoodrich Outstanding Trails Program Winners presentation.
BFGoodrich backs this up by providing funds to aid in the effort to keep these trails sustainable. Working in conjunction with the United Four Wheel Drive Associations (UFWDA) and Tread Lightly, the program began in 2006, and since then the BFG Outstanding Trails has recognized more than 30 off-road trails throughout the country and awarded more than $115,000 in grants in support of trail-conservation efforts.
This year, three trails have been designated as recipients of the BFG program: the Dutch John Trail at the Uwharrie National Forrest in Troy, North Carolina, the Kansas Rocks Recreation Park in Mapleton, Kansas, and Truckhaven near Salton City, California.
The Dutch John Trail is maintained by the Carolina Trail Blazers 4WD Club. Kansas Rocks Recreation Park is maintained by The Brush Beaters Jeep Club,
The Tierra Del Sol Four Wheel Drive Club has been calling Truckhaven home for 50 years. Located in the massive 80,000 acre Ocotillo Wells SVRA area, Truckhaven in itself encompasses nearly 7,500 acres and is studded with rocks, trails, rocks, hills, sand washes and more rocks.
BFG representatives Richard Winchester and Tom Sullivan presented the Tierra Del Sol 4 Wheel Drive Club of San Diego with a check to help continue its stewardship of Truckhaven.
BFG also awarded Jay Bottom a set of BFGoodrich tires as he was the winner of a BFG-sponsored Facebook contest. Along with the tires, he also won the opportunity to ride along with a TDS club member through the beautiful badlands that is Truckhaven.
