How much value is added to an old Chevy truck driven by Arnold Schwarzenegger in a Terminator movie? Well, apparently not much as this 1970 Chevrolet Long Bed piloted by the “Terminator” recently sold on Ebay for a mere $5300. That’s not bad, and it’s a great conversation starter.
Used in the filming of “Terminator 3 – Rise of the Machines” it was purchased from the Volo Auto Museum in Illinois and came with full background documentation. The rig received a very extensive “patina” style paint job that created the illusion of a dirty, dusty truck, but in reality, the seller said this truck was solid and rust free.
1967-1972 Chevy trucks are some our favorites and this one is blue on blue with a velour interior, six-cylinder engine, four-speed tranny, roll bar, lifted suspension and 49K miles. The first thing we’d do is remove the goofy writing on the doors and windshield. Hope the new buyer double checked the paperwork because if you look carefully in the video, Arnold hot wires a truck with an automatic transmission. Hmmmm.
The video clip shows the sequence where Arnold arrives in the “past,” crashes a “Ladies Night” honky-tonk party, steals the truck and blasts off to find John Conner and the gang. For movie fans this third installment of the franchise is significant because it’s missing James Cameron, Linda Hamilton and Edward Furlong.
With its 15 minutes (or less) of fame in a blockbuster Hollywood movie and immortalization in celluloid, we think the buyer of this famous Chevy pickup got great a deal.
