Jeep’s usually have a familiar look and name to them, but this 1964 Jeep M-677 is a little obscure in itself. There were only around 400 M-677 made in 1964 for the Navy, with this being number 264.
This is not only a rare girl, but it served a purpose. It is the 4 door military version of the FC170 cab over pickup truck built by Willys and the Kaiser Jeep from 1956 to 1965. It has the Cerlist three cylinder, two stroke, supercharged diesel engine, T-90 transmission, Spicer 18 transfer case, and full interior.
Surprisingly this Jeep has four-wheel-drive, spring over axle suspension, and only 15,718 miles. Pictures may not show it, but this vehicle is larger and heavier than it appears. The Jeep M-677 comes in at a scale breaking 4,660 pounds and over seven feet tall – she’s a big girl.
The Jeep has been garaged for the last 10 years, but the previous owner did leave it out in the elements. Rust has got the best of parts of the external body panels, B pillar supports, and outer door skin. She has not drivable and does not currently run, age just may have got the best of her.
The Jeep is up for sale currently on eBay for $4,200 with 30 bids. The reserve has not been hit yet, so who knows how high it will actually get. It will be interesting to see what it goes for because it is such a unique vehicle. It may not something taken to the trails on the weekend, but it is still a very unique Jeep to add to the collection.
