
Firefighters showed up one hour later, the first people on the scene where fellow racers stopping to help out. It shows the type of people that are involved with the sport.
Update 8:27 am:
Waking up this morning it still seems like it all a bad dream. More information has come out over night about what happened. It appears that the muffler exploded which resulted in the carbon panels catching on fire.
The team has confirmed they will repair the vehicle and come back stronger in 2017. Another video surfaced of the Truggy on fire, and the vehicle is lucky it only made it out with the damage it did.
Update: 4:15 pm:
We were able to reach John Tondro of Terrible Herbst Motorsports who was at their shop in Huntington Beach. He said that half the team is in Baja and the other half is at the shop working on building the new number 91 Trophy Truck.
“We’re all a little in shock,” John said, “Thankfully everyone is ok. It does not appear to be too bad. Luckily the fuel cell did not catch fire as it could have been a lot worse.” We will have to wait for more updates from the team on if the vehicle will be able to be repaired. We sure hope that the Truggy will see another day.
Update: 1:18 pm:
Pictures have begun to surface of the vehicle and the aftermath of the fire. It looks like the Truggy did withstand some substantial damage in the fire. The chassis looks to be in ok condition leaving the possibility of the shark being resurrected a high possibility.
A video from Pasion Racing has also surfaced and walks around the vehicle. The video shows the interior of the vehicle completely gone, it appears that the fire started somewhere in the front of the truck.

The Terrible Herbst Motorsports Landshark has been eating up the competition at this year’s NORRA 1000. The shark’s run came to an end today. After starting off the line second this morning it later turned to something unexpected.
From a source close to the NORRA 1000 has informed us that the Landshark has burned to the ground. The vehicle’s tracker stopped working at race mile 94.7 out of the 324 miles for the stage.
The shark has been confirmed that it is on fire, and the drivers are safe. Stay tuned for more updates as we get them directly from NORRA. This is is truly a sad day for such an iconic racing vehicle.
