The 2012-15 JK has a new partner in crime from K&N. The company has just introduced the Blackhawk line, offering a blacked-out look for subdued style and a distinctive demeanor. In addition to looking the part, the Blackhawk kit acts the part too by bumping up horsepower and torque. See additional details below.
The color black has strong emotional associations and it often implies power, elegance, and mystery. K&N gets that, which is why K&N has released a line of all black air intakes aptly named Blackhawk Induction air intake systems. Owners can expect style, more power, & killer engine sound with a Blackhawk Induction system for 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 Jeep Wrangler JK 3.6L Pentastar V6 models. It replaces the restrictive factory air filter box and air intake tubes with a free-flowing, mandrel bent aluminum air intake tube to help minimize restriction and air intake turbulence.
The mandrel bent aluminum intake tube is finished in a durable flat black powder coat for a bold look under the hood. In stark contrast to the black intake tube is a welded and engraved aluminum K&N nameplate. This Blackhawk Induction air intake system incorporates a black powder coated heat shield, also stamped with the K&N logo, to help deflect engine heat away from air entering the engine.
For that true blacked-out look K&N designed a line of black colored synthetic Dryflow air filters. K&N Dryflow air filters provide excellent airflow rates as well as outstanding filtration efficiency. A K&N Blackhawk synthetic air filter is washable and reusable and can go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. This Dryflow air filter does not need to be oiled; no oil equals quicker cleaning and that means you can hit the trails sooner.
Blackhawk Induction air intake systems look bold and are designed for respectable performance gains in both horsepower and torque. On the dyno, when installed on a 2014 Jeep Wrangler JK with a 3.6L Pentastar V6, the 71-1566 Blackhawk Induction air intake system produced an estimated 7.26 more horsepower at 5,600 RPM and an estimated additional 7.79 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 RPM. The kit is an easy to install performance upgrade that can be installed in about 90 minutes using basic hand tools, along with K&N’s simple step-by-step instructions. It maintains all necessary factory connections and does not require any additional modifications be made to the vehicle.
K&N backs its air intake systems with the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty so owners can rest easy knowing their air intake system can stand up to tough conditions. The K&N Blackhawk Induction air intake system will provide increased power, acceleration, and good looks for years to come.
