Looking for a mega-beefy, lightly used four-wheel-drive backcountry exploration vehicle? Well, here you go. It’s a 2008 International 7300-based Global Expedition Vehicles Pangea 4×4, and it’s available for bid until August 30th on bringatrailer.com.
MaxxForce Turbodiesel, 46-Inch Tires, And More
The 7.6-liter International MaxxForce DT466 I-6 turbodiesel propels the Pangea, and an Allison six-speed automatic transmission handles the power. The electronically shifted two-speed transfer case routes power to the axles. Solid axles reside under both ends of the truck, and they’re attached to leaf springs. The rear axle is fitted with a locking differential to help improve the truck’s off-road capability. In the event the big rig does get stuck while in the backcountry, it’s equipped with a front-mounted winch as well as front and rear receiver hitches.
Other exterior features include a cab-mounted cargo rack, high-mount driving lights, and full perimeter lighting. Additionally, camp-side audio speakers and underbody equipment compartments. Finally, the truck rolls on 395/85R20 (over 46-inch) Michelin X tires, and there’s a pair of spares located at the rear of the truck.
No Need To Rough It In The Global Expedition Vehicles Pangea
There’s no need to rough it when deep in the backcountry with the Pangea. It has multi-level living quarters with vinyl flooring, white cabinetry, and Armor Vision hinged windows with shades. The kitchenette has a stainless-steel countertop, sink with a retractable sprayer, and a Vitrifrigo drawer-style refrigerator. Furthermore, there’s a Fagor induction cooktop and a Sharp convection microwave oven.
The creative use of interior space includes an elevated dinette with wraparound seating and a telescoping table that converts into a sleeping area. There is a dedicated upper level sleeping area, and it’s accessed via a curved staircase. The “bedroom” includes a forward-facing window and a ceiling vent. The Pangea also includes a cabin air conditioner, holding tanks, and a bathroom with the usual features.
The Pangea’s entertainment options include a Jensen audio system, a retractable flat-screen TV, and a DirecTV satellite receiver. It’s worth noting that a pass-through portal provides easy access to and from the cab of the truck.
Powering the living quarters is an Eco Battery lithium battery system and a Cummins 6,000-watt generator. A Victron power management system offers monitoring and control of the electrical system. The rig’s system panel offers controls for power systems, lighting, and the power-operated pop-up roof.
