Demand is strong for the new, EcoBoost-powered 2017 F-150 Raptor. In the first 10 days since its Build & Price site went live, the Raptor site has garnered over 90,000 hits. Dealers are already taking deposits for the truck and the first deliveries are expected in about a month, so some lucky owners will get to kick up some sand over the holidays.

“This is one of the fastest and most popular product launches we’ve seen in some time,” Rob Rosenbach, Ford F-150 brand manager, said. “Traffic volume on the Raptor pages is more than five times our other performance vehicle lines, with dealer demand far ahead of expectations. This demonstrates the Ford Performance team hit its mark with the new F-150 Raptor.”

As you might expect, one of the Raptor dealers that is racking up the orders is in the Nevada desert. Steve Olliges, owner of Team Ford in Las Vegas, races an off-road Raptor professionally, so he knows the truck well. His dealership reportedly has almost 300 customers on a waiting list to get the latest Raptor and is fielding two to three calls a day from customers seeking a Raptor.

For those looking to order a new F-150 Raptor, the most popular options are the Supercrew (91 percent take rate), Luxury group (90 percent take rate) and Technology package ( 77 percent take rate).

“It’s a great problem to have, but it’s tough, because there’s so much interest in the product,” Steve said. “We do everything we can to get our hands on Raptor for our customers, whether that’s referring them to other Ford dealers or making calls to find the truck for them.”

The new Raptor starts at $49,520 and production ramps up this month, so if you want one of these 450-horsepower pickups, you better start looking for a dealer with an allocation.
