With the new 2015 Chevrolet Colorado making its way to dealers this fall, Chevy’s Build It Tool is now live to build and customize each Colorado to meet each individual’s needs.

“Our truck lineup is all about giving truck buyers choice,” said Tony Johnson, Colorado marketing manager. “With the Build Your Own site, Colorado customers can equip their truck, request a quote from the dealer and even get a price on their trade-in.”

If opting for the base model extended-cab model Colorado, a standard 2.5L four-cylinder engine is stuffed inside. With the standard four-banger, expect about 200 horsepower and a starting price of $20,995 which includes a destination fee. If looking for a bit more power, a 3.6L V6 engine is available capable of 305 horsepower for just $1,220 more. For $650, a 6-speed transmission is available instead of a manual transmission.

In all Colorado models, a OnStar system comes with 4G LTE WiFi. With that available, a three-month or three-gigabyte trial (whichever comes first) keeps every Colorado owner connected. After either one is used up, the built-in WiFi hotspot can cost as little as $5 a month to stay connected.

So, whether it’s used for towing, commuting, hauling mountain bikes, or all of the above, the Colorado can be easily tailored to fit individual needs through this build tool. Thanks to Chevy, they broke it down for us.

Of course the Towing package would need 4WD with a Crew Cab Short Box LT and a 3.6L V6 stuffed inside. Add an automatic locking rear differential for $325 and a Z82 trailering package for ($250), it’s a completely capable truck of handling all of the dirty work for a retail price of $33,535.

If mountain biking is your thing, opt for the 2WD Crew Cab Long Box Z71 (starting at $32,290) and add the GearOn Cross rails tiered storage system complete with movable tie-down rings ($495), the all-weather mats ($195), tri-fold tonneau cover ($595) and spray-in bedliner ($475). With that build, the retail price is $36,320.

If driving and commuting to work is what you need to do, try the 2WD Crew Cab Short Box LT complete with the aforementioned tri-fold tonneau cover and spray-in bedliner, plus GearOn divider system with moveable tie-down rings ($495) for a total price of $29,550.

We built this Rainforest Green Metallic Chevy Colorado for about $28,155. This premium paint added $495 to the order, plus we added 18-inch wheels for about $1,000. It has the LT Convenience Package for $615 and the rest we left as standard options.
