Overlanding. What was once just about packing the kids up in an old station wagon with some camping gear has now reached a whole new level. Not convinced? Well, the Specialty Equipment and Manufacturing Association (SEMA) is. In fact, at this year’s 2019 SEMA Show, overlanding will take a front and center position. There will be a new section dedicated to the ever-growing trend.
While the overlanding experience has been a fixture in other countries for years, it is just starting to peak here in the United States. Over the last decade, things have heated up here and the dedication of a specific area at the SEMA show reflects that.
If you are attending the show and have an interest in all things overland, then the Performance Pavilion is the place for you. Dozens of customized vehicles that have been specifically outfitted for survival purposes will be on full display.
Fully popped-out tents, sunshades and portable kitchen systems will be displayed alongside exhibitors. In addition to all of the latest gear, experts will be on hand to share and discuss the trends, challenges, and opportunities in the growing market.
“The new Overland Experience showcases a growing trend in the market,” said Tom Gattuso, SEMA vice president of events. “Overlanding products, vehicles and education will be displayed in a centralized location. Buyers will gain a comprehensive understanding of what the market entails. Also, how they can build overlanding into their businesses.” The 2019 SEMA Show is taking place November 5-8, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
