Ram Trucks sauntered into the 2024 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, Nevada, with an attention-grabbing Ram 2500 Power Wagon Concept. Thanks to a healthy list of modifications, it bumps the Power Wagon’s baked-in functionality up to another level. And it looks pretty darn good, too.
Not The First SEMA For Power Wagon
This isn’t the first time the company has brought a modified Power Wagon to SEMA. For example, in 2016, it trotted out the Macho Power Wagon Concept. The truck was a nod to the popular Power Wagon trim level from the 1970s. Among other things, the truck was fit with 37-inch-diameter tires, 18-inch beadlock wheels, and a four-inch suspension lift. The Macho Power Wagon garnered a lot of attention at the time, due to its combination of functional modifications, muscular stance, and the Power Wagon’s inherent off-road capabilities.
Ram 2500 Power Wagon Concept Includes 35s On Black Rhino Wheels
The 6.4-liter Hemi-powered Ram 2500 Power Wagon Concept is configured with an array of available Mopar and custom accessories. Ram says the truck is designed to perform flawlessly as a daily workhorse or weekend warrior. The truck is fit with 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, mounted on 20×10-inch black and Anthracite Grey Black Rhino Alpha wheels. Ram says there are no suspension modifications to the truck.
Exterior Modifications Galore
The Satin Stealth Sand exterior has a contrasting Matte Deep Black box with 3D topographical map pattern. Additionally, designers scattered Header Orange accents around the exterior, including on the front towhooks. Exterior modifications also include a Mopar sport performance hood, blacked-out trailer-tow mirrors, and bolt-on flares. And the truck has all the makings of an overlanding-ready rig thanks to a slew of added storage and additional lighting. An aluminum platform mounts to the Ram 2500 Power Wagon Concept’s roof, secured by custom-designed mounting brackets. Furthermore, the platform has custom four-corner utility brackets and three forward-facing 12-inch TYRI rectangular LED lights.
Above the bed of the truck is a Leitner Designs Active Cargo System. This system carries up to eight GearPODS, which integrate along the top of the bedsides. One of the benefits of this setup is that it generates storage without sacrificing truck bed floor space. Also, the truck’s cargo bed is fit with a drop-in BEDSLIDE sliding drawer system. This feature helps to simplify loading and unloading of gear. Additionally, the truck’s bed has Mopar spray-in bedliner for protection from wear and tear, and there’s a Mopar bed step for easy access.
Custom-Designed Seats And More
The Ram 2500 Power Wagon Concept’s interior has custom-designed seats that feature brown and black Katzkin leather. The designers trimmed the seats with Raven and Mango suede and accented them with contrasting Copperhead Orange stitching. Further, Omega M Mopar logos are debossed on the front seat backs.
Like the truck’s exterior, the interior trim features the Header Orange paint color. The door panels have custom-trimmed Katzkin premium “Dark Oak” bolsters and Header Orange speaker trim rings. There’s also a 12-inch touchscreen and buddy bench seat layout. Other features include Mopar’s under-seat storage system, and a newly developed instrument panel accessory rail that holds mobile devices. Additionally, there are Mopar all-weather mats and Mopar stainless-steel pedal covers.
The Bottom Line
Out of the box, the Ram 2500 Power Wagon is arguably one of the best off-road-centric 3/4-ton fullsize 4x4s in production. It includes Bilstein shocks, two inches of suspension lift, differential lockers, electronic disconnecting front sway bar, and front and rear lockers. The Ram 2500 Power Wagon Concept illustrates how to take the truck’s function up a notch with a few easy modifications.
