SEMA 2024: Eaton Unveils New ELocker and Detroit Truetrac

Eaton is at it again, expanding its aftermarket differential lineup. The company, well known in the off-road world for its traction-enhancing products, chose the 2024 Specialty Equipment Market Association show in Las Vegas, Nevada, to showcase new ELocker and Detroit Truetrac differentials for select GM and Jeep models.

35-Spline ELocker For Select Jeep Dana 44s

One of Eaton’s newest additions is a 35-spline version of the company’s ELocker. It’s designed for 2018 and older Dana 44-equipped Jeep Wrangler JK, TJ, LJ, CJ models. Jason Denardo, Product Manager, Aftermarket, Eaton’s Mobility Group, says, “…the new 35-spline ELocker for Jeeps with Dana 44 axles provides a significant enhancement for serious off-road enthusiasts seeking to upgrade their standard 30-spline axleshafts for additional strength and durability.”

The Eaton ELocker offers drivers traction on-demand. It’s an electronic, selectable unit, and the company says that its the most reliable on-demand differential. It features net-forged gears for added strength. To activate the ELocker, drivers simply flip a dash switch. This transitions the differential from open to 100 percent locked. Flip the switch again, and the unit is deactivated for normal driving.

31-Spline Truetrac For GM 11.5-Inch Axles

Also new is a 31-spline Eaton Detroit Truetrac for GM diesel trucks. It fits the rear axle of 2020 and up Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD models. Denardo notes, “The new 31-spline Truetrac differential is a great upgrade for GM diesel truck owners who do a lot of work or towing with their vehicles.”

The Truetrac limited-slip differential offers unobtrusive operation, operating as a standard differential in normal driving conditions. But when a wheel loses traction, the helical-shaped gears mesh with increasing force. Consequently, this transfers torque to the wheel with the most traction until wheel spin is slowed or stopped. When traction is regained, the Truetrac resumes normal operation. All of this happens automatically, seamlessly, and smoothly. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the Truetrac is maintenance-free and works in forward or reverse.

Coming in Late Q1 2025

These two new differentials join several other new differentials in the Eaton lineup. In fact, over the past several years the company has introduced 25 new differential models for some of the most popular vehicles among performance enthusiasts. It’s all part of Eaton’s ongoing commitment to vehicle coverage. “Eaton’s aftermarket team continues to listen to feedback from our customers and build on our momentum of adding new performance upgrades for popular vehicles in North America,” says Denardo.

The new ELocker and Detroit Truetrac will hit the company’s U.S. distribution centers in late Q1 2025. For more information visit eatonperformance.com.
