One of the first electric vehicles we spotted at the 2023 Specialty Equipment Market Association show was this incredible Tjin Edition Mustang Mach-E Safari concept. It’s loaded with functional off-road mods and has a few surprises, too. The SEMA Show is a magnet for new products and automotive concepts, like this Mach-E Safari.
Wider Body, Upgraded Lighting
The first thing you’ll notice about the Mach-E Safari is the exterior. Look closely and you’ll see custom front and rear fender flares. All flares are handcrafted from metal by 66_CustomsNJ. The front flares are 7.5 inches wider than stock and the rear flares are 7 inches wider. Additionally, 66_CustomsNJ crafted the front bumper bar. Up top is a Thule Caprock roof platform that serves as a mounting point for a spare tire, ARB recovery boards, Midland USA GMRS antenna, RotopaX water container, and Rigid lightbar. And speaking of lighting, the Mach-E Safari concept is well prepared for nighttime trail work with several Rigid lights. There are backup lights in the rear bumper, 4-inch fog lights in the grille, and 6-inch lights in a custom light pod on the car’s hood. Meanwhile, out back is a Thule T2 Pro bike rack holding a SUPER73-R e-bike.
Electric Winch at the Ready
The dual-motor Mach-E Safari is well prepared for trail time thanks in part to a Warn winch that’s mounted underhood. The Warn’s winch rope is fed through a Warn Epic Hawse fairlead and capped with a Factor 55 UltraHook. Other exterior mods include Rally Armor mud flaps, Mustang Mach-E Rally front underbody shield and rear spoiler, and a custom RPG Offroad towhook. The Mach-E Safari has a KPMF vinyl wrap by Daley Visual.
Interior Mods
Inside, there’s a robust collection of mods that complement the car’s exterior mods. Custom mounts hold custom Recaro Sport C seats in place for passengers. RTR QuickFit harnesses and custom seat belts by Seatbeltplanet.com enhance passenger safety. The team at 66_CustomNJ built the custom harness bar. The interior also sports a Holley 9050-FEV digital data monitor, Switch-Pros SP9100 switch panel power system, and Midland MicroMobile GMRS radio. Furthermore, also tucked away inside the car is an ARB jack, ARB recovery kit, Ford Performance portable air compressor, and Power Tank portable air system and tire inflator.
Suspension, Wheels, Tires
A custom RPG Offroad suspension with Eibach springs and Fox rear shocks improved traction and ground clearance. These suspension mods give the 265/60R18 (30.6-inch diameter) Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws plenty of room to travel without contacting the car’s body. The Falken tires are mounted on Black Rhino Barrage wheels that are powdercoated red. Custom Motorsport-Tech wheel spacers with extended studs mount the wheels to the car.
The Bottom Line
Overall, the Tjin Edition Mustang Mach-E Safari Concept is impressive. Combining the functional mods with the car’s all-wheel-drive, 88 kWh battery capacity, 480 hp, and 600 lb-ft of torque undoubtedly makes it a very attractive package. Finally, we think the car nails the visual wow factor.
