If you have not heard of Diode Dynamics, listen up, because these guys are coming out with some of the most revolutionary lighting solutions we’ve ever encountered, which we recently got to see in person at SEMA.

While the company offers a wide range of off-road lighting solutions, what makes them truly special is what you see here in front of you: TIR Optics. Custom designed and built in-house using high-end optical simulation design software, these LED lights sit ensconced within individual frames, thus absorbing the light and channeling it outward.

Unlike traditional lighting designs, where light bounces around inside a housing, thus causing it to weaken and scattered, Diode Dynamics’ design captures light, and directs it forward, where it is then augmented via unique housing patterns, which dictate where the beam pattern goes.

First offered in the company’s “Stage Series Pods,” this technology came to fruition when the company saw that there was a need for more acute and easily interchangeable rally car lighting solutions. Naturally, this quickly evolved into a niche product for the off-road segment, complete with aluminum housings, flush-mount designs, running light options, and so forth. These bolt-on options also have the ability to be toggled as a rear-facing lamp, allowing them to easily become a reverse light at the flip of a switch.

Recently, SS 5 Pods are the newest offering from Diode Dynamics, which in true numerical form, are a hulking 5×5″ in size, and crank out a whopping 400,000 CD in certain spot patterns, causing the lights to illuminate horizons almost an entire mile away!

As with many of the brand’s other offerings, color options can be selected via on-the-fly scrolling, and each lighting setup comes with its own fully customizable (and interchangeable) mounting bracket, for an infinite amount of specific positioning options. No gaskets or fiddling with wiring here folks. Just pop in a different light, and clip it down for painless plug-and-play interchangeability.

Diode Dynamics Offers A Large Variety Of High-Tech LED Lighting Options

As with all of the products within the Diode Dynamics line, the stainless steel brackets that come with these kits are made in the U.S. They also offer an array of vehicle specific light mounting brackets. As for their plug-in fog light kits, these kits are 100% SAE street legal in all 50 states, and have just be joined by an “Elite Series” of OE style lamps, which Diode Dynamics claims are 3–4 times brighter than the average factory unit, while still meeting DOT standards.

One final fun fact that we found while at this company’s SEMA booth this year, is that 25% of the employees at Diode Dynamics are engineers, which explains why their products are so well thought out and effective!
