FK Rod Ends Ultra4 Series on display at SEMA 2019

As the SEMA 2019 bonanza continues, we circle back around to some of the specialists that have helped make modern 4×4 weekend excursions and off-road racing what it is today. One of these powerhouses is Southington, Connecticut suspension originator: FK Rod Ends. We recently caught up with the brand’s spokesperson, Jay Langley, at SEMA 2019 to see what they had on display and talk shop for a sec.

Without a moment to waste, Langley took us over to a massive rod end that goes by the name of JMX24T. He explains that this precision-cut slab of alloy comes directly from the brand’s Ultra4 series of products, and is about as ultra-high-strength as it gets. Measuring 1.5-inch by 1.5-inch with a 12-thread and 1.5-inch bore on the ball, these puppies are made 100-percent out of alloy steel on the body, race, and ball for unparalleled longevity and performance.

While these parts primarily find a home on Ultra4 vehicles, Langley explains that he foresees Trophy Trucks utilizing these hardcore rod ends as well in due time. When asked as to how these rod ends might better serve overlanders, Langley explains that they, “will allow some greater strength and some greater angle, for people who need it for wheel travel or [clearing] large obstacles.”

PTFE Teflon liners are also included with each product, in order to lubricate and better manage heat build-up during extended abuse. As far as availability, these rod ends are up for purchase as we speak, and can be found on the FK Rod Ends website. While these products are about as extreme as it gets in the world of rod ends, we get the feeling that we will be seeing them on all manner of off-road vehicle, whether they be race-oriented or not.
