SEMA 2018: Rock Slide Engineering Jeep Bolt-Ons

As we continued our tour of SEMA 2018, the Jeep JL and JK goodies just kept on coming. That said, it’s no surprise that our next product snapshot came courtesy of Rock Slide Engineering, a cornerstone within the aftermarket 4×4 community. In order to get some inside info on two of the brand’s latest products, we caught up with Kevin Smith of Rock Slide, so that we could learn a bit more about the company’s award-winning step slider attachment, and its latest round of hardcore fender flares.

Made from 7-gauge high-strength steel with aluminum and stainless internals preventing corrosion, and swathed in both thermal plastics and powdercoat, Rock Slide Engineering’s step slider setup for JK and JL models is both simple and effective. According to Smith, this product is easy to install, requires no drilling, is fully retractable for additional off-road clearance and clean looks, and offers a full 12 inches of drop once deployed.

There’s also an optional skid plate attachment for extreme scenarios, and a light kit for increased side step visibility. Sensors in both front and rear doors signal the system when it’s time to deploy. There’s also an ON/OFF kill switch in case you don’t want the steps to extend, and specialized obstruction sensors alleviate any concerns you might have over pinched hands, with a two-second delay serving as standard procedure.

As for Rock Slide Engineering’s brand-spanking-new fender flares for both JL and JK models, the engineering and design team over at HQ decided to follow many of the clean lines found within the OEM flares. They then added their own unique touch. Made from high-grade aluminum and sporting an OEM width for a stealthy look, these durable fender flares have proven to be a huge hit for the brand.

By retaining a light sconce within each fender, Rock Slide has also been able to keep both running lamps and blinker signals intact, via signature LED touches. Being that this is a fairly basic bolt-on, these fender flares come complete with an OEM light harness.

Both the Rock Slide step slider and fender flare upgrade are currently available for purchase, and due to being under such high demand, are currently offered with a four week lead-time disclaimer. We encourage you to check out more from Rock Slide Engineering by checking out its website and Facebook page.
