There are few that have vehicles as wild and crazy as the SEMA Show brings out. The last couple years Daystar has been having their employees help build their booth vehicle. This year they were apart of something very extreme – a dual engine Jeep JK nicknamed the Offroadster.
“The Jeep started life as a four-door JK,” Terry Young of Daystar explained. “We took the back and shortened it, brought the firewall back, and extended the hood and the front of the Jeep. A big part of the build was wanting to keep the original equipment.”
Under the hood is where all the magic happens, especially on this vehicle. Daystar manufactured a coupler to make the two engines work together.
With a build think this keeping anything OE is a huge accomplishment, but the seemed to make it work. The Jeep had plenty of people walking by and just having to check out this one-of-a-kind vehicle.
Factory 3.8-liter V6 engines where used, but custom side exit exhaust give the Jeep a different look.
“We went with two 3.8-liter V6 engines with a RIPP supercharger,” Young continued. “The frame is still the standard four-door JK frame, but did have some crossmembers changed out to accommodate all the modifications.”
Hot rod? Jeep? This is the Offroadster!
The body and hood of this JK were the big eye grabbers as it was a long nose like something seen on an old Lincoln. No fancy technology was used in the creation of the hood and panels, just good old fashion bodywork and steel.
A factory JK frame was used on the build keeping the wheelbase the same as a four-door JK.
“The entire build took a little over four and a half months as a wild idea by our CEO, Mark Turner,” Young said. “We knew the deadline and wanted to make sure that we had it on display at this year’s SEMA show.”
Walking the show there are many insane vehicles, stay tuned for more from the 2017 SEMA Show!
