Icon Vehicle Dynamics is a well-known suspension manufacturer in the off-road world. As one of the sponsors of the Lucas Oil Regional short course races, the company’s products are found on many of the race vehicles, which are basically budget-friendly street trucks with minimal modifications. At the SEMA show, we stopped by their booth to see what they’ve been up to this year.
Icon introduced us to their new Rebound wheel, which is designed to be application-specific. They did this because they didn’t want to deal with fitment issues that create wheel rubbing. Sizing and backspacing is designed around Icon’s suspension systems to prevent the customer from facing any potential issues upon installation.
“We design it all around the ‘form follows function’ approach,” Scott Spiva said. “The wheels still look cool, they’re strong, and you’ll be able to fit the biggest tire possible without having to hack up your fenders.”
They’ve also got a brand-new rear coil-over shock system designed for the second generation Ford Raptor. The coil-overs use Icon’s Compression Dampening Control (CDC) which allows for ten settings of adjustment. Those settings allow you to customize how the truck rides and how it handles off-road. They specifically made those ten settings feel very different, so the average user has an easier time setting the system up how they like.
Lastly, they debuted their new finned shock reservoirs, which are designed for better heat dissipation. Better heat dissipation will lengthen the life of the shock but also keep the damping more consistent over long periods of time during desert races.
