We’re no strangers to the SEMA Show at this point, and neither are we strangers to the cutting edge. Case in point – CST Suspension and its new suspension products for late-model Duramax trucks. On display to showcase these products was a white 2017 Chevrolet 2500HD.
CST’s Dustin Hoon was on hand to walk us around the pickup and point out its various CST goodies. Up front, we could tell there was a lot going on; Hoon broke it down for us.
“Here, we have our one-piece subframe connected to the steering and factory crossmember,” stated Hoon. “We have heims that laterally support the center link for dropping the pitman and idler arms down. Upper control arms have a knuckle to correct the steering geometry. Our Pro Series shocks are here, too. Two on each side, and they have dual external reservoirs for more shock oil.”
The uniball on the upper control arm has a sealed housing and an FK Rod Ends PTFE-lined bearing. Both of the bushings on the arm feature zerk fittings, making it easy to grease them.

CST’s tie rods are adjustable to work with larger lift kits, like the 10-inch one installed on the display truck.
Two things we fixated on were the tie rods, which have long been a thorn in the side of Duramax owners. On this truck, CST fitted its stainless versions. These were an inch longer than stock, making them adjustable on 8- or 10-inch lift kits. “These we made over an inch thick, versus the factory ones that are 1/8-inch thick,” said Hoon. “Our tie rods are pretty stout.”
Suffice it to say, CST’s parts could lift a Duramax, and then some. If you’re interested in lifting your Chevy HD, be sure to check out the company’s website.
