When it comes time to upgrade a Jeep’s axles, it can be a daunting task. With all the different axles, gears, and tire sizes out there, finding the right one for your vehicle just got easier with the help of Dana‘s builder axle program.
“The builder program consists of our front high pinion, high clearance Dana 60 axle housing with bare long tubes on each side,” Zach Heisey explained. “The axles come bare so that the end user can cut it to their own length.”
The front axle isn’t the only thing that Dana had on display. They also had a low pinion rear axle with long tubes pressed in it to match the customization of the front.
The builder kit had everything needed to create a custom axle.
“On the front axle, there is also a choice between a ball joint wheel-end kit or a kingpin kit,” Heisey continued. “The kingpin has provisions for high-steer arms and six-bolt steer arms. There is also a separate hub and spindle kit that is a true dead spindle design with twin tapers and not a unit bearing.”
The kingpin kits have the strength that off-roaders love and the customization to create something unique. Dana wanted to give builders the ability to create something that they would never do – hence the Bruiser Conversions’ Jeep Wrangler JK that was in the booth.
The JK that was in Dana's booth had a little something extra out back. They took Dana's builder axle and turned it into a rear steer Jeep.
