Offering some truly innovative accessories for the hardcore off road enthusiast, we had to stop by Yukon Gear & Axle to find out what’s on tap for 2015. We met up with Neal Hollingsworth, Director of Marketing, to find out just how much innovation is on the horizon for us off roaders.
With an eye catching Ultra4 racer on site, still dirty from competition, Hollingsworth went into their focus this past year by saying, “This year we have focused more on adding additional applications rather than a ton of new products so that we can go deeper into the enthusiast segment.”
Setting the stage for a huge technological advancement in connecting customers to the right part the first time, their new Diff Wizard database is a resource available to both retailers and customers. “Our Diff Wizard (DiffWizard.com) is a technology database that takes you directly to the exact part you are looking for based on the application you are after. We used to have an average of 15-percent returns which has gone down to less than one-percent thanks to this technology,” said Hollingsworth. This is easily one of the most innovative systems to connect customers to a company’s products we have ever seen.
Shown unlocked (right) and locked (left), the functionality of the air-powered Zip Locker can be seen and heard.
To showcase their two most popular traction systems, we took a first hand look at the Zip Locker and Grizzly system. According to Hollingsworth, “Our air locker, called the Zip Locker, defaults back to an open carrier so if you have trouble on the trail with your air system you can still drive home. Our competition Zip Locker however, will default to ‘locked’ if there is a problem with the air system so that you can complete the course.”
If you want to skip the onboard air system and go straight to a mechanical locker, Yukon Gear & Axle have you covered with their Grizzly system. As Hollingsworth explained, “Our mechanical locker, the Grizzly, is very durable and is actually the locker used in our Ultra4 racer both front and rear.”
