During the week of the SEMA Show, we have a rare opportunity to talk with a wide range of manufacturers in a very short period of time. It can become quickly apparent what some of the latest trends are and which markets are strong.
One market segment that appears to be coming back extremely strong is premium quality Jeep JK accessories. We talked to multiple manufacturers that were re-introducing or redesigning parts for the JK because customers are realizing that saving a dollar or two on a high strength product isn’t worth it in the end when they have to replace that part again.
So, we were on the prowl looking for premium JK parts and had to stop at Iron Cross Automotive. They have been building premium products right here in the US for a long time. When we walked by and saw a JK sitting in their booth, we knew this was going to be good.
We meet up with Tony Harper who is in charge of Sales and Operations for Iron Cross Automotive. We asked him to walk us through what is new. It was quickly apparent that they are offering a host of new products for the JK.
It all starts up front with two bumper options, a standard width and a stubby. Both are able to house a 12.5k winch and have dual four inch round lights integrated into the bumper.
For additional lighting, an A-pillar mounting kit is designed to hold not only a LED pod at the bottom of the pillar but a 52-inch light bar on top. Below the A-pillar and along the side of the body are new rock sliders with integrated running boards built in.
Out back the rear bumper also comes in two varieties,; shorty and full length. There is an optional tire swing-away that has a little different mounting system. The swing-away pivots on a very heavy duty sealed spindle assembly. The spindle supports the weight of the tire.
The swing arm is then connected to the door via a pivot assembly that bolts directly to the factory mounts. To prove the weight was on the spindle and not on the door, Harper wiggled the pivot arm showing that there was no weight on the door. The swing arm assembly can handle up to a 40 inch tire. One really neat part of their assembly is the tire holder. It is adjustable for different offsets.
Iron Cross Automotive certainly understands building quality and durable products and we have no doubt these will last through rugged trails.
