When it comes to lockers and limited-slip devices for the automotive performance enthusiast, there is one company that not only has something for every application, but has been designing these products for almost 100 years. That is Eaton, and it has plenty of good news for truck and car fans.
We spent some time talking to Chris Creager at Eaton. “We have been very busy lately. Eaton recently completed an update to its very popular ELocker, redesigning it for certain extremely popular axles such as the Dana 30, 35, and 44.”
“For instance, the Eaton ELocker for the Dana 35 unit now has three pinions (due to the C-clip design), and the Dana 30 and 44 models have four pinion sets. They’re engagement is now coordinated with lock rings, making operation seamless when you go from forward to reverse.
“There will also be another new design available to enthusiasts in the Spring of 2015. It is especially built for the high-performance market and we will be running some tests later this month (November) out in Johnson Valley (the home of the incredibly rugged King Of The Hammers off-road event) with John Currie’s new 4400 series Ultra4 racer.”
“Our new ELocker for the new Dana 60 production axle has been also updated with 9310 forged gears for severe off-road duty, and will be available through Dana distributors, but you can also get them through Mopar as an option for your new Wrangler JK at Jeep dealerships.”
As you can plainly see, Eaton is constantly improving its products to meet the demands of automotive performance enthusiasts. For all the details on any of Eaton’s aftermarket differentials, go to the company’s website or call (800) 386-1911.
