Walking the halls of the 2013 Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA) Show you might have thought it was the Wrangler and Raptor Show, and with good reason, as exhibitor space after space featured at least one of the Jeep or Ford vehicles bristling with the attending company’s products on display. TerraFlex was no different, parking a cool surf-inspired Jeep in its SEMA display, as it specializes in Jeep products, and has a slew of Wrangler goodies for off-road enthusiasts to choose from.

The TerraFlex rear tire carrier is lightweight, yet heavy duty, and will handle up to a 37-inch tire.
This year TerraFlex was showing off a number of interesting products, including high-performance disc brake kits for the JK Wrangler, a digital inclinometer trail scale kit, a JK 30 and 44 high steer system, and its Tera 30 front, 44 front Rubicon, and 60 front and rear axle assemblies for the Jeep JK Wrangler.
It’s newest product that TerraFlex marketing manager Vinson “Vinny” Pratt most wanted to talk about, however, was the company’s heavy duty carrier and spare tire mounting kit for the JK, “Our rear tire carrier uses the stock mounts, but reinforces them. It also allows the owner to keep the use of the stock rear door latch, so getting into the rear cargo area is not complicated, and they can keep one hand free. However, the carrier is still very robust, and can easily carry up to a 37-inch tire. The beauty of our rear tire carrier is that it’s not overkill, it’s for the everyday Jeeper.”
The main component of the carrier is cast A356.2 T6 aluminum, and the company claims this keeps the product lightweight, yet strong as possible. The heavy duty hinge brackets are forged steel, and the 5/8-inch hinge pins are made from high-carbon hardened steel.
The TerraFlex carrier removes all stress of the tire weight from the tailgater by using the carrier as the load-bearing component. For more information about the JK HD Hinged Carrier & Spare Tire Mounting Kit or any TerraFlex product, go to the company’s website or Facebook page.
