SEMA 2013: New Bestop Products Bring Greater Utility To Vehicles

bestop3

Bestop really shines when it comes to providing the 4×4 and truck enthusiast with accessories that make life easier and their vehicle more versatile, useful and enjoyable. The company’s product line runs the gamut from soft tops, doors and windows, bumpers and tire carriers, seats and interior accessories, storage and exterior accessories to even replacement mirrors, steps and powered running boards. All of these products are designed to make the vehicle, whether it be a Jeep or a pickup truck, look better and work better.

The Trektop NX soft top is available for 2014 in a new triple-layer black twill fabric with 40-mil tinted windows.

Bestop has introduced a number of new products at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Marketing Association (SEMA), including the Trektop NX Soft Top in Black Twill, the Pavement Ends Sprint Top, Highrock 4×4 Electric Mirrors for 2011-2014 JK Wranglers, and an interior Lock Box for 2011-2014 JK Wranglers.

“The Trektop has been our most popular top and now we have it available in a black twill fabric that is the highest quality material out there and is the same fabric that is used by BMW and quite a number of other high-end car makers.” said Steve Brown, marketing manager, Bestop.

Brown went on to say, “It’s a three-layer, 30-ounce black twill, with a lifetime warranty. It features a flip-back sunroof, two anti-puddling roof braces, 40-mil tinted side and rear windows, and the real key feature to the TrekTop are the concave braces that run along the angled back sides to keep the rear corners stiff. No other manufacturer has anything like it. The top does not rest on the roll bars.

Also new for 2014 Bestop is it’s completely new value-price leader product, the Pavement Ends Sprint Top offering the same fastback styling as the TrekTop. It will also feature the flip-back sunroof, removable zip-out tinted windows, and frameless design, but in a 23-ounce diamond-point fabric.

The Interior Console Lock Box (left) can't be removed from the Wrangler's center console once locked. These wireless transmitters can be mounted in several different locations in the doorjambs, and signal the central controller when to open and close the Powerboard NX.

The Highrock 4×4 Electric Mirrors are direct bolt-on replacements for 2011 and newer Wranglers (two- and four-door). These are manufactured to OE specifications and are plug-in replacements. The wiring kit for factory connectors is included. The new mirrors are larger and offer greater visibility.

A neat little Interior Console Lock Box is also soon to be available from Bestop that will provide a whole lot of piece of mind in a small space. All-welded, 16-gauge steel construction with a hinged and keyed lid, the security box fits perfectly into the center console and can’t be removed once the lid is closed and locked.

Also new, and on display at the 2103 SEMA Show, but not in the catalogs yet, is something that Jim Chick, Director Sales and Marketing told us about. While Bestop has been making its Powerboard for pickup truck applications for sometime, the company has just developed a new setup that will make installation much easier and cleaner (much less panel removal and no wire cutting and splicing), and the operation of the Powerboard much nicer.

The new Powerboard NX offers patented wireless components that are placed in the doorjambs to signal the central controller when to open or close the step, as the doors of the truck are opened and closed. No door wiring needs to be tapped, and the interior of the truck is left untouched and unaltered.

Bestop is constantly looking for ways to improve your vehicle, whether it be a Jeep, pickup truck or SUV. These new products are just a few examples of the way the company’s engineers have succeeded in doing so.
