When enthusiasts hear the name Konig, they likely picture sports cars running various custom, lightweight, high strength wheels, or high performance exotics. Konig offers a variety of wheels though, and has recently branched into the four-wheel-drive and truck market with its Mamba line. Konig is targeting enthusiasts who want anything from a stylish wheel for their daily driver, to a strong wheel capable of taking them from the pavement to the trail on the weekends.
We spoke with Konig’s Scott Weiss at the 2013 SEMA show, and he showed us a few of the latest wheels that Konig has to offer, with special emphasis on the M13 aimed at truck, Jeep, and SUV owners. “The M13 has a wide range of applications for truck, Jeep, and SUVs,” Weiss told us.
This five-spoke design is an attractive design with cuts in the spokes adding accent, and the wheel is painted matte black. “The matte black paint finish is easy to care for, and while we did add some holes and cuts for styling, there’s no fake hardware or anything to break off the wheel, so guys going off-road on the weekends don’t have to worry about stuff breaking off the wheel. That matte black finish is a little more forgiving for a quick touch up if it gets scratched or chipped and it matches many of the off-road accessories on the market,” says Weiss.
The M13 is available in a variety of fitments, for lifted and standard suspension applications. The wheels are a one-piece cast aluminum design for high strength, and Weiss says they’re designed to take a tall tire, which puts extra stress on a wheel. Available in 15- through 18-inch diameters and eight or nine-inch widths.
