Ford Motor Company has seen phenomenal success with the high-performance SVT Raptor pickup truck since the day it began rolling them out of the assembly plant, and it has remained one of the most popular pickups for the off-road enthusiast crowd. It seems as if you can hardly turn a corner these days without seeing one driving down the road or roaring across the American landscape.
At the 2013 SEMA Show we discovered that among the many incredible products that Currie Enterprises had on display, including its new RockJock JK 44 axle assemblies Off Road Xtreme recently featured, they also had an incredibly sturdy, full-floating rearend assembly for the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor.
Ray Currie told us “the stock Raptor axle is just not intended for really extreme off-road use, and as sales of the trucks exploded, there became a need for a heavy duty full-floater rearend for the Raptor or F-150 truck.
This rearend assembly is built to our standards using 3-1/2 inch diameter by 0.375-inch wall axle tubes, and can be had with our Ford 9-inch or Dana 60 center. One of the toughest parts was developing the speed sensors for the axle assembly.”
The Currie Raptor rearend accepts up to 40-spline axles; uses the stock 6 x 135 mm bolt pattern, factory brakes and ABS; and features a 4140 heat-treated 2-1/2-inch spindle and 4340 heat-treated drive plate. It is also available as a high-pinion or low-pinion model.
