SEMA 2017: Chevrolet Unveils Trucks And ZR2 Parts Prior To Show

The 2017 SEMA Show is less than 12 hours away from starting, and Chevrolet let a select few exclusive access to the vehicles that will be on the show floor in the morning. It is always an exciting time to see the release of these special edition vehicles as well as get the show week started.

Chevrolet brought out trucks which helped signify 100 years of the first Chevy production pickup truck. From a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD NHRA Safety Safari Concept, 2018 Chevrolet Silverado Performance Concept, Suburban Luke Bryan to the Rod Hall Racing Colorado ZR2 it all came across the show floor.

Rod Hall Racing Chevrolet Colorado ZR2

The Colorado Zr2 appeared to have just come from the desert as it was still dawning some dirt. This ZR2 finished and won the 2017 Best in the Desert Vegas to Reno race as the only production pickup truck.

The Rod Hall ZR2 featured a ton of Chevy Performance parts.

Highlighting the ZR2’s time on stage was the unveiling of the performance parts. “Our team took the production Colorado ZR2 to a new level,” Mark Dickenson explained. “In desert racing ground clearance is everything. We developed a suspension to give the already lifted ZR2 another inch of lift, a 1.5-inch body lift, third-link that acts as an anti-wrap bar for the rear axle, longer Multimatic shocks with tuning that Chad Hall helped with, front and rear jounce shocks, high articulation ball joints, stronger half shafts, and a steel driveshaft all worked together to give the truck the suspension it needed.”

Chad Hall had these parts on the winning ZR2 and will also enter the truck in future races. With some interest from the market, these concept parts can make it to production.

2018 Chevrolet Silverado Performance Concept

From the dirt to the pavement the next concept truck showed off a whole different game. This truck wasn’t meant to see the desert, but was ready to rip up the pavement. Under the hood is where it got exciting as the pickup featured the 5.3-liter with a concept LT4 supercharger kit and performance air intake. This Silverado is estimated to pick up an additional 100 horsepower.

The truck also featured front six-piston Brembo brake upgrade kit in red, a 5.3-liter cat-back exhaust system with polished tips, and a performance cold-air induction system from Chevrolet Performance. In addition, the truck had 22-inch aluminum wheels (custom color for concept vehicle) and center caps, black bowtie emblems, a tri-fold tonneau cover, all-weather floor liners, and a rear under-seat storage organizer.

Luke Bryce 2018 Chevrolet Suburban

When new vehicles roll out it can make grown men squeal like school girls, but when this truck rolled out it would even make the girls squeal. Luke Bryan and his one-of-a-kind concept was the ultimate example of Hunting Fishing And Loving Everyday.

Luke Bryan teamed up with Chevrolet to create a one-of-a-kind Suburban concept. The concept speaks to Luke’s “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day” outlook.

“Luke worked with our design team this summer and had a very clear vision of what he was looking for,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet’s Director of Marketing and Advertising for Trucks. The Suburban as a whole is Luke Bryan’s creation and what he wanted to see from the hunters orange to the camo paint job.

Luke Bryan's favorite part of the build had to be the lift kit, wheels, and tires.

“It was an amazing experience heading to Detroit and seeing what goes into the vehicles,” Bryan said. “I got the idea for this truck because I built something similar to this, but it did not have all the Chevy bells and whistles. I have three boys at the house and when they bring friends with them when we go hunting I need more room.”

One very unique feature on this Suburban is the removal of the rear windows and rotated rear seat.

The Suburban was certainly something different and great to see an SUV done up like this. If you ask Luke what his favorite part of the build is, he’ll have to admit that any time a lift and mud tires is put on a Chevy truck it makes it something else.
