Way up in Cheyenne, Wyoming, TNT Customs makes a daily trade of outfitting Jeeps with solid and precision-made parts. The 10,000 square-foot facility is home to some exciting products that include everything from suspension upgrades and axle reinforcements to undercarriage protection and front and rear bumpers. A list of the parts and accessories available from TNT Customs fills pages of a catalog. Â
TNT owes its founding to Bob Levenhagen, a man who made a living making custom rigs in Wisconsin. A 20-year career in the Air Force afforded him skills that translated well into his lifelong passion for off-road fabrication and modification, and made it possible for him to live up to the motto his company stands by: “Dream it, we can build it.”
Very little stands still at TNT Customs for too long. Levenhagen and his team are always innovating with new products for JKs, and we were fortunate enough to get an inside scoop on two of these parts–namely, a mid-width aluminum bumper, and a rear axle truss for the company’s long arm suspension.
The bumper is a two-piece design that starts with a bolt-on, powdercoated steel winch tray that can easily accommodate a massive WARN winch, and is completed with an outer skin made from 3/16-inch aluminum plate that fits perfectly on to the top of the winch tray. It’s a fresh take on a previous powdercoated design that originally came with a tube grille.
The sunken tray allows space for the winch while keeping obstruction of the grille and radiator to a minimum. TNT is currently accepting pre-orders for the bumpers, which should be available in May. It will be a great improvement to any Jeep and a clean look with high-clearance functionality.
Next up is the rear axle truss, which is intended for use with TNT’s long-arm suspension components. It made its debut at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah (look for the Off Road Xtreme story on the event soon), and is extra sturdy due to its full-axle-width design.
Instead of being a bolt-on design, this new axle truss from TNT is a welded piece that offers exceptional sturdiness and strength.
Incorporating higher-placed mounts for lower control arms and shock absorbers, the truss is capable of adding up to four inches of additional ground clearance, making it an indispensable addition to any late-model rock crawling Wrangler. The truss is welded right onto the axle tube, over the coil bucket, and serves as its own bump-stop pad.
These products are just a couple of examples of what the company is all about: durability, smart design, and practicality. When it comes to outfitting your Jeep for the next trail, be sure to give TNT Customs your consideration, because it can do it all, be it a specific component or even an entire build project.
