Time has come to give our 2000 Toyota 4Runner a little more traction out on the trail. Being two-wheel drive it will take what ever it can to be able to maneuver correctly while out having fun. For help with this we turned to Eaton and their complete lineup of differentials.

Eaton’s Detroit TrueTrac will be the perfect addition to our 4Runner and the amount of off-roading it does.

The Detroit Truetrac is a helical gear style limited-slip differential that maximizes wheel traction and enhances driving and handling characteristics. Its versatility make the Detroit Truetrac makes it a possible solution for almost any type of vehicle.

This differential offers smooth, automatic operation, maintenance-free parts, and works in forward and reverse. This should give our 4Runner the added boost it needs.

REWA003Michael Mullholland of Eaton expained, “The TrueTrac will work for a daily driver a lot better. At some point, going off-road is not the differential’s issue, but becomes an issue of suspension or tires. There’s probably not one thing you can do to change a vehicle’s capability quite like adding a locking differential; it will definitely enhance the performance of a vehicle. For mud, snow, and dirt, lockers make the difference, and it should be among the first things that a guy should do to get ready.”

Installing the TrueTrac will be the perfect match for the 4Runner and the off-roading it does. Stay tuned to Off Road Xtreme for a full install article on Eaton’s TrueTrac differential.
