Many Americans have shifted their driving options away from fuel-intensive trucks and SUVs, but many more remain loyal to this large-and-in-charge segment. But just because you’ve got to haul an entire soccer team and its equipment halfway across the county to the next game doesn’t mean you should be denied the feeling of a supercharged engine. At least that’s how Callaway Cars feels.

At the Chicago Auto Show, Callaway revealed a new supercharger package for the all-new 2015 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban SUVs. Costing as much as a well-equipped Chevy Sonic, this supercharger package certainly isn’t for lightweights.

The 2015 Chevy Tahoe and Suburban received a number of improvements over the outgoing models, starting with an all-new frame shared with the Chevy Silverado. It also shares the 5.3 liter EcoTec V8 that makes 355 horsepower and 383 foot-pounds of torque. That’s a respectable figure for a full-size SUV, but Callaway customers are the kind of people who are always demanding more.

More is what they’ll get, thanks to an Eaton roots-style supercharger that is part of Callaway’s $17,395 package, which boosts output to a 450 horsepower and 450 foot-pounds of torque. Callaway also throws in some embroidered head rests and floor mats, a Callaway key fob, and of course a Callaway serial number and badging.

Sure it seems like a lot of money to spend on a vehicle that, in the Suburban’s case, starts at over $48,000. But considering the top-trim Suburban can cost more than $65,000 direct from GM, this package makes a bit more sense. Sort of?

Callaway also offers its Chevy Silverado supercharger package.
