Ford fans were happy when the new 2015 F-150 was unveiled. While this is great news, truck fans are dying to know the fate of the F-150 SVT Raptor and the F-150 Tremor Sport Truck. Will these performance packages live on with the 2015 F-150? We have some good news and bad news for you.
Let’s get the bad news out of the way first: Ford is ending production of its on-road performance F-150 Tremor at the end of this year (talk about short lived). As for the Raptor, there hasn’t been any announcement as of this report of an end of production, but no announcement of a 2015 Raptor, either. However, here at Off Road Extreme, we believe the Raptor will live on.
Why, you ask? Well, the demand for the Raptor has been huge and sales have been excellent. We don’t believe Ford will kill off one of its most successful performance packages.
The Ford F-150 Tremor, Ford's 2014 on-road performance truck
As for the Tremor, it may be replaced by a more off-road focused Ford F-150 EcoBoost powered by a turbo 2.7L V6. Ford recently snuck the F-150 EcoBoost into the Baja 1000 where it competed. It proved to be worthy on the 1,000-mile long, harsh off-road race course, despite its small-displacement motor.
While an on-road performance truck may be gone, keep in mind that the off-road market is strong and it would make sense for Ford to keep the Raptor alive.
