Most all four-wheel-drive enthusiasts know Omix-ADA as the group of Jeep geeks who have been actively curating and restoring what is arguably one of the best, if not the best collections of Jeep vehicles in the world. And most know that it is also the company responsible for manufacturing so many replacement parts for rare Jeep vehicles built from 1941 and up.
But how many folks know that Omix-ADA has now expanded into seven significant brands, each with a unique mission to serve Jeep and off-road enthusiasts of all stripes? Off Road Xtreme sat down with Henk Van Dongen, director of marketing with OMIX-ADA at the 2013 SEMA Show and got the low down.
The Performance Vented Hood and the Drakon aluminum alloy wheel for '07 to '14 Jeep Wrangler JKs are new Rugged Ridge products.
Van Dongen told us that, “up to just recently, we (Omix-ADA) did any number of things, but our mission was not very well defined. We decided to separate the businesses properly so each could be focused and do what they were supposed to do as best they could.”
“Omix-ADA is the parent company and it has and will continue to manufacture and offer thousands of spare parts for Jeep vehicles going all the way back to the beginning. Rugged Ridge will make all kinds of accessories for Jeeps such as the Performance Vented Hood and Aluminum Hood Latches. Alloy is going to be for the high-performance guy — alloy racing axles and gears.”
“Outland is all about a full line of truck and SUV bull bars, tube side steps, and other functional accessories. Heavy duty suspension upgrades and options for your rig will come from ORV Suspension. Lastly, a full line of upgraded ring and pinion sets will be offered through Precision Gear.”
“The new Drakon alloy wheel is a great example the Rugged Ridge direction. It’s cast aluminum alloy, available in four finishes, and built especially for the ’07 to ’14 Jeep Wrangler JK. With a 4.53-inch backspacing, 2,200-pound load rating, 5 on 5-inch bolt pattern and hub-centric design, the Drakon will center perfectly every time.”
