2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Adds Tough And Rugged Trail Boss Trim

Chevrolet is bringing a fan-favorite trim into the electric age. Starting this summer, the off-road-ready Trail Boss will officially join the 2026 Silverado EV lineup. This electrified evolution of the Trail Boss combines Chevy’s proven off-road capability with the power, efficiency, and innovation of an all-electric platform—offering adventurous drivers a truck that’s just as wild at heart as they are.

Trail Boss has always been a standout in Chevrolet’s lineup, first making its debut on the 2019 Silverado and later showing up on the Colorado. Its rugged nature and lifted stance made it a go-to for off-road enthusiasts. Now, in its EV form, it offers everything Trail Boss fans love, plus the silent strength and high torque of electric power. According to Chevrolet Vice President Scott Bell, adding Trail Boss to the Silverado EV lineup builds on Chevy’s long-standing truck legacy while enhancing range and capability.

Actual Trail Boss Off-Road Hardware

The 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss isn’t just a cosmetic upgrade, it’s purpose-built for off-road performance. Thanks to a two-inch lift, it boasts 24 percent more ground clearance than the base Silverado EV. Underneath, a specially tuned coil suspension system with hydraulic rebound control ensures comfort and durability over rugged terrain. Drivers can expect robust performance, too. With the Max Range battery pack, the truck delivers up to 725 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque, along with a maximum towing capacity of 12,500 pounds and a payload rating of 2,100 pounds.

What truly sets the Trail Boss apart, though, is its suite of advanced drive modes tailored for off-road adventures. Terrain Mode provides superior control at low speeds, particularly on uneven ground, by enhancing the truck’s 4-Wheel Steer functionality. This means tighter turns and improved torque distribution when it matters most. Off-Road Mode further optimizes the vehicle’s dynamics for trail driving, while Sidewinder Mode—previously seen on RST trims—enables diagonal movement at low speeds by turning all four wheels in unison. It’s perfect for maneuvering through narrow paths or even parking in tight urban spots.

Of course, Trail Boss also brings its signature tough looks to the EV platform. The high-angle approach front fascia, bold body lines, and red tow hooks announce its off-road intentions loud and clear. Rugged 35-inch all-terrain tires are mounted on unique 18-inch wheels, and Trail Boss badging inside and out adds to the exclusive feel. The interior receives its own distinctive touches, and auxiliary switches make it easy to add lights or accessories for those looking to personalize their rig. Buyers can choose from nine exterior colors, including three brand-new hues: White Sands, Polar White Tricoat, and Magnus Gray Matte Metallic.

High Tech Silverado EV Interior

Chevy hasn’t overlooked tech, either. The Silverado EV Trail Boss includes enhancements to the Super Cruise system, now integrating Google Maps for intuitive lane guidance. A new hands-on assist feature helps maintain lane position and adjusts speed with traffic, keeping the driving experience both safe and relaxing. Adaptive Cruise Control has also been upgraded, allowing the vehicle to automatically match posted speed limits. For those who tow, Super Cruise with trailer capability is now available on both the LT and Trail Boss trims.

The Trail Boss is part of a broader Silverado EV lineup that also includes the Work Truck and LT trims. This gives customers flexibility at every price point and performance level. Chevrolet has announced the sunset of the launch-edition RST trim as the EV family evolves. The 2026 Silverado EV starts at $54,895 and retains many popular features across the lineup, including up to 10.2kW of off-board power for campsite gear or jobsite tools, the versatile Multi-Flex Midgate, and WOW Mode for unlocking peak performance. The cabin is anchored by a massive 17.7-inch infotainment screen, complemented by an 11-inch digital driver display—now standard even on the Work Truck.

With the arrival of the Trail Boss, the Silverado EV is no longer just a utility vehicle—it’s a true adventure machine. Combining rugged off-road strength with cutting-edge electric technology, it’s designed for those who want to explore without compromise. Whether you’re headed deep into the backcountry or simply want the most capable electric truck on the road, the 2026 Silverado EV Trail Boss is ready to take you there, with power, precision, and plenty of style.
