SCT Performance demonstrates what happens when you take the best of recent innovation from Ford and add a powerful tuner. The guys over at TruckU, a TV show on the Great American Country network, shot a video with SCT Performance’s Tim Roi to showcase just what a difference the tuner makes to America’s favorite pickup truck.
Judging by appearance, the hosts, Bruno Massel and Matt Steele, have before them a 2014 FX2 F-150 powered by the 3.5L EcoBoost V6. An all-around respectable motor supported by twin turbos, the EcoBoost’s 365 HP and 420 lb-ft of torque make the engine a fine choice for any hauling tasks, and you can bet increased MPG is also a big plus to new truck buyers.
Roi agrees, telling Massel and Steel, “Smaller motors for fuel economy are the future of Ford … Everybody wants good fuel economy, but they don’t want to sacrifice the horsepower. So, you know, twin turbos on a V6, makes the same power as a V8.”
That’s all well and good, but we’re all about seeing those numbers on the dyno climb higher and higher. The Livewire TS looks to be the easy solution to the conundrum of choosing power or MPG by allowing both.
Roi claims the tuner makes the EcoBoost achieve a gain of 50 HP and 100 lb-ft of torque. We recently show you what the Livewire TS did to our test mule 2013 FX4, and without spoiling anything, we’ll just say those numbers are no exaggeration.
From the sweet pre-packaged tunes to the bright touchscreen, the Livewire TS proved itself a worthwhile match to the EcoBoost motor.
We love talking about companies that take something great and make it better, and the ability of SCT’s Livewire TS to make the EcoBoost work like a V8 without sacrificing MPG shows the product to be a worthy purchase. Add on real-time data logging, tune presets, and more, and it’s practically impossible to say “no.”
